Crown-ing Glory

Monday, August 29, 2011
A giant crane swoops in Friday afternoon to add another steel beam to the growing expansion project at Crown Equipment Corp. on Greencastle's East Side. Browning Construction is the general contractor on the project that will nearly double the size of the current 165,000-square-foot production facility. The expansion, designed to add more than 145,000 square feet to the east side of the present building, is expected to be completed by early 2013. The investment is expected to add 143 jobs, the City Council was told this spring while approving 10-year tax abatement on the expansion and new equipment. Crown is investing an estimated $11 million to expand its facility to build a new product known as the C-5 truck.
