Mental Health America thanks sponsors

To the Editor:

Mental Health America of Putnam County held its seventh annual "Mind Your Health" 2-mile walk and 4-mile run on Saturday, July 30. Each year we are delighted with the participation from Putnam County community members and individuals from outside of our community. This event has continued to grow each year and we hope to see it grow again in 2012.

Without our race participants, we wouldn't really have a race and without our sponsors, we wouldn't be able to continue our mission in Putnam County and so we wish to thank everyone who participated in one way or another for helping us to help others.

MHAPC strives to promote mental wellness and at the same time educate the community about mental illness. Our "Puppet Power" Program has been performed in the county schools from Kindergarten to 6th grade and will start up again with the beginning of the new school year. We have been able to assist six children with clothing that they needed as they started back to school. Our classes for divorcing parents and their children continue to be offered 11 times a year. We presented two Education Programs earlier in the year and will offer another on Sept. 22. Because of the generosity of our donors and participants we will be able to continue our programs in the community.
