CHS gets win over Turkey Run

The Cloverdale volleyball team defeated Turkey Run Tuesday in three games 25-17, 25-21 and 25-21 and moved to 5-2.

Leading the Clovers in points was Paige Gruener with 13 points. Bristy Skiles adding five points, with Adri Patterson, Bradanne Toney and Taylor Jones scoring four points each. Lindsay Robson, Rebekah Jordan and Katie Fulkerson had three points each. Gruener had a season-high six aces.

Toney had 17 kills, with Mariah Oetken and Patterson had five kills. Jones had four kills, with Skiles adding two and Gruener and Fulkerson adding one kill each.

Toney also led the team in 17 digs, with Jones adding six, Jordan five and Gruener three digs. Lindsay Robson had two digs for the Clovers. Toney and Oetken had one block each.

"We were happy to get a win," head coach Kathy Moore said. "We have played five matches in seven days, most on the road, so it's been a challenge."

The CHS junior varsity volleyball team also won 25-15 and 25-12, improving to 6-1 on the season. Megan Helterbrand had six kills, with Christa Asbury adding five kills. Heather Goss and Jessica Winders recorded six points each.
