Greencastle's Landon Miller connects on a shot during Wednesday's match against Turkey Run. Miller won his match 6-0 and 6-3.

The Greencastle boys' tennis team faced an undermanned Turkey Run squad Tuesday and came away with a 5-0 win over the Warriors.

"It was good for especially my one, two and three to get a win," head coach Bradley Key said. "They've actually been battling fairly well. (At) West Vigo, they had a chance for a win there. It was good to see Landon Miller finish on his forehand. He's been battling that in his head and he told me that before the match and today it looked pretty smooth."

The Tiger Cubs won the doubles competitions on a forfeit, with the Warriors only bringing four players. Greencastle was able to sweep the singles competition to take the win.

In No. 1 singles action, Landon Miller was able to blend a strong serve, nice net play and precision shots to pick up the win. Miller won his match 6-0 and 6-3.

Cy Spencer won at No. 2 singles with a score of 6-1 and 6-0. Spencer won multiple points as he charged the net and blasted shots by his opponent.

Lee Hayes rounded out the Tiger Cubs wins. He made quick work of his opponent, winning 6-0 and 6-0. Hayes utilized steady play to force his foe into numerous mistakes and was able to capitalize on his errors.

Kaden Faust won in No. 1 singles junior varsity action, winning 6-1 and 6-0.

"With Turkey Run, I was talking to their coach, and getting numbers has been a problem for th em right now," Key said. "But giving credit to our guys, they're playing decent tennis right now. I see that we're getting better from the start of August and as a coach, no matter what you're coaching, that's what you want to see. They're definitely getting much better.

"As a team overall, from one to eight or nine, we're getting better and that's what we want.
