CLOVERDALE -- Touring Endeavor Communications facilities at Cloverdale Thursday afternoon, 8th District Congressman Larry Bucshon (R-Ind.) got an up-close look at the operations of a fiber optic network and the community it serves.

Congressman Bucshon watched as Endeavor crews were placing fiber optics in the ground, observed the end product of fiber to the home technology, and met with business owners to see how important the fiber optic network is to deliver the advanced services needed in the rural community.

"In a technologically advancing world, it is great to see a local cooperative put such a large investment into the communities in which they provide service," Rep. Bucshon praised.

"Access to broadband services for individuals and businesses, especially in rural areas, helps level the playing field and allows them to be competitive in a global economy," the congressman added.

Ralph Cunha, president/CEO of Endeavor Communications, escorted the congressman on his tour of the Cloverdale facility.

"We were excited to have Congressman Bucshon visit to see firsthand the investment we are making in the community to deliver the advanced telecommunications services that are needed today and into the future," Cunha said.

The fiber optic facility investment is being made available through the Universal Service Fund (USF), which enables rural companies to provide needed services to the high-cost areas in which it serves.

USF has been a significant driver of broadband deployment in rural America, which allows businesses and residents to thrive. Endeavor is able to provide broadband Internet services to 100 percent of the members it serves.

Endeavor Communications, founded in 1950 as a telephone provider to small towns and rural areas, is a cooperative, meaning it is owned by its members.

Endeavor currently provides telephone service, including Internet and digital television, to approximately 10,000 active customers who use more than 10,000 access lines in parts of Putnam, Owen, Clay, Hendricks, Parke, Morgan, Tipton and Hamilton counties.

In 2007, the company became Clay County Rural Telephone Cooperative (CCRTC) doing business as Endeavor Communications.

  • Until the members of the cooperative have voted differently Endeavor Communications does not exist. It is still CCRTC.

  • Well, if you could read the last line, you would know your statement is irrelevant.

  • Learn the facts before you trash a company. They are the same company, only added a DBA. The members were notified, guess you did not bother to go to the meeting Mick. No one was reemed, no money was lost. Directors did not recieve any money.

  • Lol...people just love to try to dig up dirt. Thanks, longtime citizen, for your informed response. To mickhamblin, the DBA has been added for some time now. Where have you been? I remember getting notified in the mail. To localman, I think you are remembering previous administrations. None of them are with the company anymore. I think it's great to see a local company providing local jobs in an otherwise sorry economy. Good job, Endeavor/CCRTC
