Comedy 'Don't Drink the Water' to close curtain on 50th PCPH season

The final production of the 50th season of Putnam County Playhouse is the Woody Allen comedy "Don't Drink the Water."

Presented this Thursday, Friday and Saturday and again Sept. 14-17, the comedy will be staged at the Hazel Day Longden Theatre on Round Barn Road in Greencastle.

All performances begin at 8 p.m. and all tickets are $10. Tickets can be reserved by calling the PCPH box office at 653-5880.

Set during the years of the Cold War, the play deals with the hilarious complications faced by a New Jersey couple, Walter and Marion Hollander (Scott Armitage and Tammy Hunter), who are forced to hide in the American embassy of a small eastern European country when they are mistaken as spies.

Their daughter Susan (Sarah Bond) is with them, and even though she is engaged to a boy back home, she immediately becomes smitten by Axel (TJ Tincher), the son of the ambassador who has taken charge of the embassy in the absence of his father (Jim Rambo).

Among those employed at the embassy are a couple of assistants (Sandi Rossok and Don Collins) and a chef (Ric McFadden). Then there's Father Drobney (Michael McClaine) who has been in asylum there for seven years.

Supporting roles are played by Dustin Bond, Jack Randall Earles, Shelly McFadden, Jim Green and Eleanor Howard.

Others in the cast include Don Wilson, Karen Temple, Ben Dulaski, Ashlee Vitz and Ben Fisher.

The production staff includes Rambo as director, Vickie Parker and Linda Gjesvold as assistant directors, Green as sound board operator, and Brenda McClaine operating the light board.

Gjesvold designed the set. Special technical assistant is Matt McClaine. Hairstyles are by Kathi Asbell with makeup by Diana Van Middlesworth.

Shelly McFadden is the show's stage manager and costume supervisor.
