The Putnam County Board of Realtors conducted its annual dinner and meeting at Windy Hill Country Club recently with more than 50 members and guests attending the event.

The evening culminated in the announcement of the Putnam County Realtor and Affiliate of the Year. Each year the local Association of Realtors takes nominations from its membership for a local Realtor of the Year candidate. The local winner then goes on to compete for the State Realtor of the Year award.

Teresa Adams, who chairs the Award Committee, announced that Jana Sillery of Collins Evans Real Estate had been elected the 2011 Realtor of the Year.

Sillery has been in real estate for more than eight years, and previously served on the association board of directors. Sillery was in California on the night of the award ceremony, and was not available to receive her award in person.

A lifelong resident of Putnam County, Sillery currently resides with her husband David in Greencastle. She developed an interest in real estate after watching both of her parents pursue careers in real estate.

Nancy Fogle, Jana's mother and partner at Collins Evans, has been in real estate for more than 44 years. Her father, Joe Fogle, is also a long-time realtor, working with Coldwell Banker Putnam Real Estate Center of Greencastle.

The association also recognizes a local Affiliate of the Year. An affiliate member is one that is not a realtor, but works in some business connected to the real estate profession. Many are banks, mortgage lenders, credit unions, insurance agencies, title companies and inspection companies.

This year's award was presented to First National Bank, with Nancy Michael accepting on their behalf. First National Bank has assisted the local Realtor Association for many years, by allowing the organization to utilize its community room for continuing education classes, by sponsoring membership luncheons, and through advertising on our website.

"We greatly appreciate all that the employees of FNB do for our association and for our community," Teresa Adams said on behalf of the Awards Committee.

A $50 contribution to the Putnam County Community Foundation/Board of Realtors Scholarship Fund has been given in honor of each of these award winners.
