Casey's General Store to open Thursday morning

Wednesday, September 28, 2011
Casey's General Store employee Melvin Eastham prepares doughnuts Tuesday in a trial run for this Thursday's opening-day celebration. The new gas station/convenience, store will open Thursday at 5 a.m. Casey's will be having several specials and giveaways during its opening celebration Friday and Saturday.

Casey's General Store will be opening this Thursday, beginning at 5 a.m. at its new Greencastle location, 1215 Bloomington St. (U.S. 231 South).

However, the grand-opening celebration will not be taking place until Friday and Saturday.

During the grand-opening event visitors can win free T-shirts, Frisbees or a five-pound Hershey chocolate bar, as well as gift cards for free pizzas and donuts.

A radio remote is set for 3-5 p.m. Friday by WREB (94.3 FM), which will also be giving away prizes.

The convenience store/gas station, which had been scheduled to open in October, got pushed up by corporate to open a full two weeks early, store officials said.

Casey's will feature a sub line, food for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as made-to-order food from 4 p.m. until 4 a.m.

"It's a convenient store and more," Casey's supervisor Judy Roselle said. "There will always be someone here to take your order."

As the store is coming together Casey's is still currently looking for new employees. For more information, persons may stop in the store or call 653-2959.

  • The article doesn't state this, per se, but it appears that Casey's will be open 24 hours. That would be a good thing, and if the article's statement is correct that made-to-order food will be available from 4pm - 4am, that's a move in the right direction for all of the 2nd and 3rd shift employees in the area. It would be nice to have fresh, hot food available to all of us night owls. Thank you, Casey's, for that. Now, just please keep your gas prices low, okay?

  • Hopefully they won't allow young teenagers to hang around all hours talking to young girls working there like Mcclure's does-this has been on going problem at McClure day or night.
