City Police

Four recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

-- At 12:15 p.m. Monday, two people were arrested for theft at the Kroger store on Indianapolis Road.

Jack Alan Taylor, 42, Poland, and Tonia Marie Bixler, 36, Poland, were arrested by Officer Darrel Bunten on theft charges and lodged in the Putnam County Jail after reportedly eating food from the produce area of the store and not paying for it.

Taylor is also being charged with false informing after allegedly giving Officer Bunten an incorrect name.

-- At 4:09 a.m. Sunday, Michael Hetrick II, 26, Leesburg, Va., was arrested at Seminary and Indiana streets by Capt. Charles Inman for trespassing and public intoxication. Hetrick registered .20 percent blood-alcohol content when tested.

-- At 11:18 p.m. Friday, Brian Kamplain, 28, Greencastle, was arrested on a warrant by Reserve Officer Tim Smiley in the American Legion parking lot on Indianapolis Road.

Four recent traffic accidents were investigated by GPD officers.

-- At 8:43 p.m. Saturday, a minor mishap was reported on the Burger King parking lot on Indianapolis Road as Grace Jimenez, 18, Greencastle, reportedly backed her 2000 Chevrolet Blazer into a parked 1998 Honda Accord, owned by Traci O'Neal, Greencastle.

Officer Matt Huffman estimated total damage at $1,000-$2,500.

-- At 9:25 a.m. Friday, a minor accident occurred on the TSC store lot at 25 Putnam Plaza.

Capt. Mike Hanlon reported that James R. Williams, 71, Greencastle, was pulling away from a parking spot when the rear of his dually truck caught the corner of a parked 2003 Cadillac, owned by Cathy Mullis, Greencastle.

Total damage was listed at $2,500-$5,000.

-- At 4:51 p.m. Sept. 28, a two-vehicle accident occurred as Everett Smith, 42, Roachdale, had stopped in traffic to wait on a turning vehicle in front of him when his 1992 Chevrolet was struck from behind by a 2011 Honda, driven by Vanessa Mudd, 63, Greencastle.

Mudd and a passenger said they did not see any brakelights on the Smith vehicle. Officer Ed Wilson inspected the Smith vehicle and found its brakelights were not working.

Total damage in the accident was listed at $5,000-$10,000.

-- At 1:48 p.m. Sept. 28, a two-car mishap occurred at North Jackson and Earp streets.

Jessica Duncan, 22, Greencastle, was stopped in northbound traffic, waiting to turn left onto Earp Street, when her 1997 Nissan was struck from behind by a 2008 Kia, driven by Patrick Railsback, 49, Brownstown.

Railsback was also northbound and his attention was momentarily diverted and he did not see the other car stop.

Total damage was estimated at $2,500-$5,000.

Duncan was ticketed for operating a motor vehicle without financial responsibility (no insurance).

Three other recent traffic citations were issued by city officers.

-- At 9:36 p.m. Sunday, Brittney Thacker, 26, Beech Grove, was cited by Reserve Officer David Clodfelter at Veterans Memorial Highway and Cemetery Road for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

-- At 10:15 p.m. Friday, Matthew Langdon, 26, Cloverdale, was ticketed at Veterans Highway and Warren Drive by Reserve Officer Jeremiah Jackson for having an expired license plate.

-- At 8:10 a.m. Thursday, Erica Vagedes, 35, Bloomington, was cited by Officer Albert Epple for 49 mph in a 30-mph zone on Bloomington Street.
