Tuesday, October 11, 2011

The second installment of property tax is due Thursday, Nov. 10, Putnam County Treasurer Sharon Owens reminds local taxpayers.

If you wish to mail your property tax payment, you must address it to: Putnam County Treasurer, P.O. Box 508, Greencastle, IN 46135.

If you would like a receipt returned to you, you need to enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope.

Property tax may also be paid at the following banks: Old National Bank, First National Bank, North Salem State Bank or Tri-County State Bank. In order for the banks to process your payment, you must provide them with your tax statement.

You may also make your tax payment online with a credit card or debit card at www.putnamtax.net or by calling 1-800-809-5849. There is a processing fee if you choose to use the online or phone payment option.

Payments are also welcomed in the Putnam County Treasurer's Office, located on the second floor of the Putnam County Courthouse. Office hours are 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The courthouse and treasurer's office will be closed on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 8. All payments, if mailed, must be postmarked by Nov. 10 to avoid a late penalty charge.

Also a reminder to Heritage Lake property owners: If you have a fall exceptional benefit payment, it is also due on Thursday, Nov.10.

Anyone who has any questions may call the Putnam County Treasurer's Office at 653-4510.
