Robert J. Stinson, 66, Greencastle, formerly of Brazil, passed away on Oct. 17, 2011 at Greencastle.

He was born on Feb. 28, 1945 in Richlands, Va., and was the son of the late John K. Stinson and Lera M. (Whitt) Stinson Cook.

He was a 1964 graduate of Greencastle High School.

He was a technician for IBM Corp., and retired after 27 years of service and was later employed at Cash Concrete Products for 10 years.

He loved hunting, fishing and archery hunting and was a member of the Cloverdale Conservation Club since 1966.

He attended the Berea Christian Church at Brazil.

He is survived by his daughter, Christy Ray and husband, Howard Ray Jr., Greencastle; his son, Shane Allen Stinson and wife Bianca (owner of Shane's General Repair Shop), Reelsville; his sister, Betty Jean Allee, Reelsville; his brother, Hansford "Hank" Stinson and wife Rhonda, Fillmore; his grandchildren, Jeremiah Stinson, Jessica Stinson, Hansi Stinson, Blake Stinson, Lacey Bumgardner, Darian Ray, Brittany Ray and Chelby Ray; and four great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are his lifelong friends and hunting buddies, Steve Winslow, Shane Stinson and his faithful dog Sally Ann.

He was preceded in death by his first wife and lifelong friend and soul mate, Donna Hendrich Stinson; his father, John K. Stinson; his mother, Lera M. Stinson Cook; his stepfather, Thomas D. Cook; and his brothers, John David Stinson, Harry Glen Stinson and James Perry Stinson.

Memorial services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28 at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Oct. 28 from 6 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
