Police investigate shooting in Poland

Monday, October 31, 2011

POLAND -- Officials are still piecing together a shooting, which took place Sunday near the Poland area.

According to Clay County Sheriff Mike Heaton, no one has been arrested at this point and no charges have been filed.

"This is still under investigation," Heaton said. "No arrests have been made yet due to conflicting stories."

On Sunday, Heaton said deputies were dispatched at approximately 6:30 p.m., to the Poland area for the incident.

He said shots were fired from a residence off Private Road 375 N., near County Road 700 E. The shots were fired at a vehicle after some sort of altercation.

The altercation took place between parties, all of whom live on the road.

The shooting victim, a male, was transported to St. Vincent Clay Hospital and later to Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis.

Heaton said it was believed the man was shot in the facial area and said his injuries were not life threatening.

He added another person involved in the altercation, a woman, was later hospitalized at St. Vincent Clay for "non-related health issues."

It is not known what type of weapon was used during the incident. In addition, names of the victims have not been released due to the pending investigation.

While more interviews needed to be conducted Monday, Heaton said he officials planned to meet with Clay County Prosecutor Lee Reberger later in the day

"We still need to interview the gun shot victim," Heaton said. "Right now, we're getting conflicting stories between both parties."

  • More like on line instant "Nonsense". Just rumor seeds. The story benefits no one and nothing is gained by reading it.
