Allen Timothy "Tim" Whaley

Mr. Allen Timothy "Tim" Whaley, age 89, of Greencastle, formerly of Stilesville, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011 at the Putnam County Hospital.

Born June 5, 1922 in Bath County, Ky., he was the son of John Andrew and Fanny Jane (Barber) Whaley.

He married Mary Jean (Ockerman) Whaley in 1942 and she preceded him in death in 1998.

Tim had been a farmer in the Stilesville area until his retirement.

He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army. He was a 40-year member of the Stilesville Christian Church.

Survivors include his sons, David Allen (Lana) Whaley, Daniel Harter (Judy) Whaley and Michael Thomas (Mary Anne) Whaley; a daughter, Martha Jane (Cliff) Wharton; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a twin brother Andrew Talmadge Whaley; and sisters Pauline Whaley and Christine Garrett.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Pastors Jon Lilly and Jeff Seger and Chaplain Jim Staggers officiating.

Burial, with military rites, will follow at the Stilesville Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27.
