South Putnam stuggles against Anderson

South Putnam senior Seth Hammond led the Eagles with seven points Saturday.

ANDERSON -- South Putnam's boys' basketball team was soundly defeated by Anderson 80-28 on Saturday night.

The host Indians led 19-9 after the first quarter and steadily pulled away thereafter, leading by 22 at halftime as the Eagles struggled to match the shooting and skill of the home side.

Anderson recorded 50 rebounds in the game, with 24 coming on the offensive end. The Indians also scored 28 points off of 22 Eagle turnovers.

All 12 Anderson players in the game scored, led by junior Trey Boyd, who recorded 18 points, 6 rebounds and three steals, and Jalin Beard, who added 16 points.

South Putnam was led by Seth Hammond's seven points while Sawyer Arnold added five for the visitors.
