Bradley E. Karn, 53, of Brazil, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011.

He was born July 31, 1958 in Lafayette, Ind., the son of Larry and Joyce (Doud) Karn.

Brad graduated from Brazil High School with the class of 1977.

Following high school he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served for four years before joining the Army National Guard. He served his country for more than 21 years before retiring.

Brad worked for Great Dane in Indianapolis as a mechanic.

He married Shelly Deakins on July 21, 1978, and she survives.

He was an active member of Berea Christian Church where he participated in their praise team. Brad also participated in several mission trips, including Haiti and to Hurricane Katrina relief projects.

Brad enjoyed riding his motorcycles, cooking, watching football and spending time with his granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his mother Joyce Karn, his son Bradley Earl Karn II and father-in-law James Deakins.

Brad is survived by his wife, Shelly Karn, daughter Jennifer Clodfelter and husband Matt, son Benjamin Karn and wife Penny, and granddaughters Julia Clodfelter and Nora Clodfelter, all of Brazil; father Larry Karn; brothers Greg Karn and wife Janice and Jeff Karn; sister Kim Holley and husband Ted; mother-in-law Rosie Deakins; and sister-in-law Sheila White as well as many extended family members.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 23 at Lawson-Miller Chapel, Brazil. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. Thursday.
