Susan Maude Loving Brentlinger

Susan Maude Loving Brentlinger, 65, of Terre Haute, passed away unexpectedly at Union Hospital on Dec. 20, 2011 at 9:38 a.m.

She was born on April 28, 1946 to Wayne and Phyllis (Ashman) Loving. Susan moved to Terre Haute from Chicago in 1966.

Susan is survived by her husband of 42 years, Tony Brentlinger; daughters Erin Brentlinger and Abby Livers (Tim) all of Terre Haute; Jared Brentlinger (Laura) of Greencastle; grandsons Kyle Brentlinger and Charlie Livers; sister Jan Loving of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and many nieces and nephews.

Susan retired from the Vigo County School Corporation in 2009 after 26 years, serving as a health assistant at Dixie Bee Elementary School and as a teaching assistant at DeVaney, Sugar Grove and Dixie Bee. Known as "Mrs.B" to many young children, she made their hurts go away and listened to all their stories.

She delivered the Tribune Star for 12 years, making sure that each customer had his/her newspaper placed exactly in the chosen location with a smile on her face.

She was employed as a receptionist for Westminster Village and had been there since 1997.

Susan was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Terre Haute as well as attending mass at St. Benedict's with her family. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society.

Susan was an avid reader and sun worshipper. She wrote poems and stories to cheer friends and make them laugh. Her laughter was infectious and her smile could brighten anyone's day.

She was a friend to all she met and helped many in need. Her grandsons were her pride and joy and delighted in watching them grow.

Funeral services have been scheduled for Friday, Dec. 23 at 1 p.m. at DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Cory. Pastor Tim Ramsier will be officiating.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. until services at the funeral home. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to United Way of Terre Haute, Success by 6 Program.
