Peace Lutheran hosts 3 Christmas weekend services

Peace Lutheran Church, 1421 S. Bloomington, Greencastle invites the community to celebrate the birth of Christ with a variety of worship opportunities.

On Christmas Eve, Peace will offer a 5 p.m. Family Christmas service as well as traditional candlelight worship at 7 p.m. A Christmas Day service will be offered at 10:15 a.m. as the church rejoices in the Good News of the coming of Jesus.

The 5 p.m. service is especially designed to meet the needs of young families with children. Together worshipers will journey in spirit to Bethlehem to greet our newborn King. The Christmas story will be told according to the Gospel of St. Luke. Familiar hymns and carols will be sung by the congregation accompanied by the congregational pipe organ.

Worship at 7 p.m. will include readings based on the Gospels of Matthew, Luke and John as well as Old Testament readings from Isaiah. Pastor Barber will close the celebration by leading the congregation in "The Service of Light" climaxed by a lighting of the candles and the singing of "Silent Night."

"Good News of Great Joy" will be the theme of the 10:15 a.m. Christmas Day Service.

Everyone is welcome to join with us in worship as the congregation rejoices in the birth of Christ.
