William E. Knauer

William E. "Bill" Knauer, 83, of Greencastle passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012.

He was born on June 16, 1928 in Parke County to William J. Knauer and Hazel E. Phelps Knauer.

Bill was a graduate of Greencastle High School and had worked at Otto's Gas in Brazil.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jim Knauer; son-in-law, Jack Allee and a daughter-in-law, Christa Knauer.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Doris J. Cox Knauer; three children, Mike Knauer and significant other Brenda of Greencastle, June Ellen Query and husband Richard of Reelsville and Diane Allee of Greencastle; two brothers, Robert Knauer and wife Virginia of Loveland, Ohio, and Marvin Knauer and wife Angie of Montana; eight grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6 at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Pastor Rick Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at Little Walnut Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 3-7 p.m. and on Friday from noon until time of services at the funeral home.
