Co-Alliance LLP announces $20,000 in local scholarships

Saturday, January 7, 2012

One of the area's largest farmer-owned cooperatives has offered to extend a financial helping hand to 20 college-bound students this month, thanks to the Co-Alliance Solutions Scholarship program.

Co-Alliance serves energy and agribusiness customers across Indiana, Ohio and Michigan, and Co-Alliance's farmer-directors have again committed $20,000 in academic awards to the children and grandchildren of co-op members.

The one-time awards of $1,000 each will go to deserving local high school seniors who plan to go into the study of agriculture, and who demonstrate outstanding leadership and ability.

According to Co-Alliance CEO Kevin A. Still, "Every year, it is a highlight for our staff to learn about these local student applicants. Their dedication and passion to lead shine through in their essays and their achievements, and we are proud to invest in the academic future for these young people."

To qualify for consideration, the students must be children or grandchildren of co-op members within the partnership of Co-Alliance: Those partners are Midland Co-op, IMPACT Co-op, LaPorte County Co-op, Frontier Co-op and Excel Co-op.

Children of employees and current co-op directors are not eligible. The application has been posted on the company website and announced via Facebook. The deadline to apply is March 31.

Co-Alliance delivers agronomy, seed, animal health, nutrition, grain marketing services, power fuel and home heat energy products to thousands of local farms, businesses and families through branch outlets in Indiana, Ohio and Michigan.
