City Christmas tree pick-up ends Jan. 13

Wednesday, January 11, 2012

The Greencastle Department of Public Works is continuing its annual Christmas tree pick-up efforts through Friday, Jan. 13 (a story published earlier listed the ending date incorrectly).

Residents within city limits may place only live Christmas trees (no tree stands or decorations) between the curb and sidewalk. Those without a curb or sidewalk may put their trees near the street, but not in it where it could affect traffic or drainage.

City crews are following the trash-route schedule for Christmas tree collection.

"Please have them out the day before," Street Commissioner Brad Phillips instructs, "because we only go through each day's route once during the week unless we are ahead of schedule."

For more information, persons may call the Department of Public Works at 653-3391.
