Elizabeth A. 'Betty' Wathen

Elizabeth A. "Betty" Wathen, 84, of Poland passed away on Friday, Jan. 13, 2012.

She was born on Dec. 3, 1927 in New York to Orlando Pfaltz and Marian Dachenhousen Pfaltz.

Mrs. Wathen was a graduate of Queens College and was an X-ray technician for Dr. Beelers and Silver in Indianapolis for more than 35 years. Betty was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church.

Betty was an avid gardener, enjoyed hummingbirds and appreciated classical music.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Surviving are her husband of 24 years, Bob; five children, James D. Wathen and wife Nancy of Fishers, Jeffrey Boyers and wife Debi of Leesburg, Va., Pamela Ventura and husband James of Cincinnati, Michael A. Wathen and wife Rhonda of Bloomington and Lorie Soltis and husband Kevin of Pittsboro; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 202 East Washington St., with Father Darvin Winters officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Inurnment will be private at Calvary Cemetery in Indianapolis.

The family has requested that memorials be made to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church Ladies Guild, 202 East Washington Street, Greencastle, IN 46135.
