ROCKVILLE -- The Cloverdale girls' basketball team dropped a tough contest to Rockville Tuesday 35-26.

Paige Gruener and Katie Fulkerson led Cloverdale with six points each. Sydney Shrum added five points, with Bailee Stevens with four points and Bristy Skiles adding three. Amillia Nally scored two points for CHS.

The Clovers rebounded from a halftime deficit of 18-12 to cut the lead to 21-18 after three quarters of play. However the Rox rebounded and outscored the Clovers in the final quarter 14-8 to take the game by a nine-point margin.

"(It was a) frustrating night for myself and the girls," head coach Matthew Langdon said. "The girls have been working really hard to improve and just can't put the ball in the basket. The girls continue to play hard on the defensive end and holding opponents to lower scores but our offensive woes have kept us from getting that win.

"You have to play to win the game and Rockville hit the shots needed to get the win. I encouraged the girls to keep up the hard work and eventually it will pay off," he added.
