Conservationist of the Year

The efforts of Putnam County landowners in soil and water conservation were honored on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at the Putnam County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) annual meeting. The evening included Harold Thompson of Big Walnut Watershed, Division of Soil Conservation Director Jerod Chew and several of the county SWCD supervisors. Honored as the Putnam County Conservationist of the Year was Mac Swem (second from left), who accepted the award along with his wife Sharon, son Allen, daughter-in-law Kristie and son Mark. Mark and Phyllis Legan were also honored as state Conservationists of the Year.
