Super Bowl XLVI

Monday, February 6, 2012

While co-workers (right) Billy Arden, Louis Chavez, Juan Pimentel and Steve Antonio enjoy watching the Super Bowl at Buffalo Wild Wings in Greencastle, it's just another day of work for the Greencastle Fire Department. The fire department spent their day training and washing trucks and in between runs and some, like Captain John Burgess and firefighter John Shafer, even got to watch the football game.

"It doesn't matter what the holiday, it could be the Super Bowl or Christmas," explained engineer Pat Carrico (bottom). "It just comes with the job."

Emergency departments such as the fire department, police and Operation Life are some of the few people having to work on Super Bowl Sunday, a day of partying for many.

There is no trading days or switching off each year. The department rotates shifts every three days. It does just depends on where the holidays fall, if they are able to get the day off and enjoy a holiday or two.
