Virginia L. Sligh

Virginia L. Sligh, 81, of Greencastle, passed away on Monday, Feb. 13, 2012 at the Putnam County Hospital.

Born Aug. 12, 1930 in Greencastle, she was the daughter of Willie Edward and Lucy Lenora (Cartwright) Sligh.

Virginia had been a cook at the Walmart Distribution Center, several years for the Putnam County Correctional Center, IBM Corp. and the Beta house at DePauw University.

She was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son, Mark Collins of Greencastle; sisters Alice V. Sligh and Jackie Jackson, both of Greencastle; four grandchildren, Angela Scharf of Chicago, Monique Collins of Mississippi, Kendrich Collins and Ava Collins, both of Greencastle.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Bruce Churchill; and a sister, Willa Mae Robinson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17 at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Greencastle. Friends may call at the church from 11 a.m. on Friday until time of service. Interment will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery.
