Jean W. Maynard, 88, Rockville, passed away Tuesday evening, Feb. 21, 2012 at Mill Pond Health Campus, Greencastle.

She was born in West Brattleboro, Vt., on Oct. 26, 1923, the daughter of Arthur and Emma Hall Woodworth.

She married Lyman E. "Shorty" Maynard on Feb. 24, 1951, and he preceded her in death on June 16, 2001.

She lived in Clayton until 1993 when they moved to Raccoon Lake near Rockville into the log cabin that Shorty built for their retirement.

She was a homemaker and bookkeeper for Clayton Welding.

She attended Vermont Junior College and graduated from American International College in Springfield, Mass.

She was a member of the Rockville Presbyterian Church and a former longtime active member of the Clayton Presbyterian Church.

She delivered for Meals on Wheels and volunteered in the Chaplain's Office at Hendricks Regional Health.

Survivors include her children, Kurt (Sandy) Maynard, Gainesville, Ga., Caryl (Clint) Ashbaugh, Dunlap, Ill., Jan (Mike) Neeley, Rockville, and Kent Maynard, Coatesville; grandchildren Jennifer (Mike) Simpson, Joe Neeley, Cristina (Ryan) Bishop, Jason Maynard, Jessica Maynard, Amy Maynard and Adam Maynard; and great-grandchildren Reece and Emma Simpson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Clayton Presbyterian Church with Rev. David McDonald officiating. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Friday at the church.

Contributions may be made to the Clayton Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.

Arrangements are being handled by Bousley-Hays Funeral Home, Coatesville.
