Speedway will face hosts South Putnam in the IHSAA Sectional No. 44 final after dispatching Covenant Christian 63-58 Friday night.

The Sparkplugs held a 21-19 lead after one quarter of play but let the lead slide away in the second period, allowing the Warriors to take a 37-31 lead into the break.

Covenant Christian, much like Tuesday night, saw their offense falter as they game wore on, scoring 21 points in the second half.

The Warriors had a one point lead heading into the fourth, where both teams took turns with the lead.

Speedway was able to hang on in the closing seconds by converting late trips to the free throw line, whereas Covenant Christian missed several shots from the line and could not close the gap in the closing three minutes to closer than three.

Jordan Clevenger led all scorers with 22 for the Warriors. His efforts were matched by Speedway's Justin Brent and Jordan Furlow, who scored 20 points each.
