Grocery Getter

Friday, March 9, 2012

Mike and Sandi Huffman made a unique donation to the Putnam County Emergency Food Pantry recently -- a full-sized van. But the donation became more of a community effort. York Automotive, Area 30 students and pantry volunteers are doing work on the vehicle. Tammy Amor of the Chamber of Commerce arranged for the donation of a gas card by Co-Alliance. Sandi Huffman is encouraging local gas stations to strongly consider getting involved by keeping up the donations of gas. The van will be used by pantry volunteers for shopping for food and picking up donations. Present for Thursday's donations were (from left) Nick York of York Automotive, John Jackman, Steve Linton of Co-Alliance, Dun Mundy, Director Judy Miller, donors Mike and Sandi Huffman, Francis Washburn, Grace Ford, Joyce Black, Tammy Amor of the Chamber and Thelma Bumgardner.

  • The Putnam County Emergency Food Pantry appreciates this great donation to them. Please know that they will use the van to help them with anything that pertains to the pantry.

The one area that it will not be used for is to deliver food to the clients who visits the pantry due to the insurance and liability coverage that they have.
