County Jail

Two people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* On Wednesday, March 21 at noon Kimberly Kathline Eads, 29, Brazil, was arrested for contempt of court.

* On Thursday, March 22 at 3:01 a.m. Susan Janine Nolon, 37, South Bend, was booked in for failure to identify and disorderly conduct disturbing the peace.

City Police

One arrest was reported Wednesday by Greencastle City Police.

-- At 5:30 pm., Jacob R. McFerron, 25, Bainbridge, was arrested by Officer Jeff Modlin at a residence on Shadowlawn Avenue for battery.

McFerron was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

Three recent traffic accidents were investigated by city officers.

-- At 3:21 p.m. Tuesday, a minor mishap was reported at Maple Terrace Apartments, 908 Elm St.

Police said Jennifer Redding, 34, Greencastle, was backing her 2006 Chevrolet when the van struck a parked 1994 Nissan Sentra owned by Donald A. Berry, Greencastle.

Officer Modlin estimated damage at $750-$1,000.

-- At 5:23 p.m. Tuesday, a car-motorcycle accident occurred on North Jackson Street, just south of Shadowlawn Avenue.

Michael R. Miller, 51, Greencastle, was northbound, riding a 1976 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when a southbound 2004 Mitsubishi Eclipse, driven by Joshua Wilson, 18, Coatesville, reportedly attempted to turn left into Hendershot's Service Center.

Wilson was able to lay the bike down but it slid into the turning Eclipse, Officer Darrel Bunten reported.

Total damage was estimated at $1,000-$2,500. Wilson was uninjured.

-- At 6:04 p.m. Monday, a two-vehicle collision was reported at Veterans Highway and Percy Julian Drive.

Ryan Stevens, 18, Greencastle, was westbound, driving a 1997 Dodge pickup. He stopped to turn right onto Percy Julian Drive when his truck was struck from behind by a westbound 2006 Ford driven by Chauncey Baker, 18, Cloverdale, Officer Modlin reported.

Baker said the collision occurred as he attempted to go around the Stevens vehicle.

Total damage was listed at $1,000-$2,500.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to a pair of dispatches in the afternoon and evening of Wednesday, March 21.

* At 3:08 p.m. GFD performed a medical assist with Operation Life at 2600 East SR 240. Cleared 3:46 p.m.

* At 9:20 p.m. personnel investigated a fire alarm at 107 W. Hanna St. The problem was caused by smoking. Cleared 9:32 p.m.
