Joseph Clayton Ban, 47, Roachdale, ended his courageous battle with cancer at his home on Thursday, March 29, 2012.

Joe was born Aug. 4, 1964 in Indianapolis to Velta Sutton Ban, who survives, and Frank J. Ban, who preceded him in death in 2011.

He graduated from Danville Community High School in 1982.

Joe spent the last 19 years employed with Clondalkin Pharma and Healthcare. Prior to that, he was employed by Eli Lilly and also Taylor Construction.

He was a member of New Maysville Community Church and had also served on the Roachdale Fire District Board and Roachdale Volunteer Fire Department.

He also served many volunteer coaching positions, most recently volunteer swim coach at North Putnam High School.

Joe married Beth Wehrman Ban on May 2, 1987 in Danville, and she survives.

Other survivors include sons Jerrett and Jeremy Ban; brothers Jerry (Maggie) Ban, Carmel, and John (Linda) Ban, Indianapolis, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday, April 2 at Conkle Funeral Home, Avon Chapel.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 3 at New Maysville Community Church with Larry Edwards officiating. Visitors will be accepted at the church one hour prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to New Maysville Community Church, the Roachdale Volunteer Fire Department or the University of Indianapolis football program.
