BELLEVILLE -- A Hendricks County branch of a Putnam County-based bank was robbed Friday afternoon.

The Hendricks County Sheriff's Department is seeking a man who robbed the Belleville First National Bank around 1:45 p.m. Friday.

Investigators are seeking a white male, approximately six feet tall and 180-200 pounds. The man showed a black, semi-automatic handgun to the teller and demanded money. He got away with more than $2,000.

The suspect then fled the bank on U.S. 40 in a small, black sedan, possibly a Chevrolet Cobalt.

The suspect was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt turned inside-out, blue jeans and brown shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Lt. Chuck Morefield at the Hendricks County Sheriff Department at 317-745-4052.
