South Putnam track splits with Cascade on the road

The South Putnam boys' and girls' track teams battled Cascade Tuesday night, with the boys' coming away with a 79-45 win. The girls' place second to the Cadets, 77-52.

In the boys' event, South Putnam recorded 10 wins on the night en route to its victory.

Tyler Neumann and Klayton Vittetow posted two wins each on the night. Neumann won the long jump with a distance of 16-11.5 and the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 16.25. Vittetow took the top spot in the high jump with a height of 5-7 and the 300-meter hurdles in a time of 48.49.

Wes Riner won the 100-meter run in a time of 11.43, with Ben Fiest winning the 200-meter run in 24.8. Michael James won the discus with a distance of 134-3, with Ryan Chestnut winning the shot put with a toss of 51-2. Trent Workman won the pole vault with a height of 10-feet even.

South Putnam's 400-meter relay team also won on the night.

For the girls', Ariel Higgins won two events on the night. Higgins won the 100-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles. Deborah Cheatham won the high jump and the Jenna Geier won the pole vault. Jessica Jones won the 800-meter run.

The 400-meter relay team of Higgins, Steffany Baker, Jones and Josalyn Farmer won, with the team of Aubrey Nichols, Alex McHugh, Madie Egold and Jones won the 3,200-meter relay team.
