CMS track teams split with Eagles

The Cloverdale Middle School boys' track team defeated South Putnam 64-53 Tuesday to open its season.

Tyler Kaeff won the 110-meter hurdles, with Kolton Knapp winning the 100-meter dash. Nick Blundell won the 400-meter hurdle and Joey Bright won the long jump.

Cloverdale also won the 400-meter relay and the 200-meter relay.

In girls' action, Cloverdale was nipped by the Eagles 56-51.

Lois Cheatham had a strong night by placing first in the long jump, 100-meter hurdles and the 400-meter relay. Maddie McHugh had a first place finish in the 1600-meter run (6:02) and second in the 800-meter run (3:11).

Alex Fanning won the 800-meter run with the time of 3:10.

In field events, Jenna Carmichael and Madison Plunkett both tied for first in the high jump and Hewitt came out strong with three first place finishes in the discus, shot put and as a member of the 400-meter relay.

For the Clovers, Claire Plamondon won the 2,400-meter run in a time of 10:32, with Naomi Williams winning the 100-meter dash in 14.75. Williams also won the 200-meter dash in a time of 31.3.

Riley Canfield won the 400-meter run with a time of 1:41.31 and Harley Manion won the long jump with a jump of 12-3.
