South Putnam girls track sweeps Eels

The South Putnam girls' track team swept all events in Thursday meet to defeat Eminence at home.

Ariel Higgins won three individual events on the night and was part of the winning 400-meter relay team. Higgins won the 100-and 300-meter hurdles as well as the long jump. Alex McHugh collected two wins on the night, winning the shot put and the discus. Deborah Cheatham also won two event, taking the top spot in the high jump and the 400-meter run.

Steffany Baker won the 100-meter dash, with Madie Egold winning the 1,600-meter run and Mallory Glaze winning the 800-meter run. Jessica Jones paced the field in the 3,200-meter run and Josalyn Farmer won the 200-meter dash. Jenna Geier won the pole vault to round of the sweep of the individual events.

Higgins, Baker, Jones and Farmer teamed up to win the 400-meter relay, with Jones, Glaze, McHugh and Aubrey Nichols taking honors in the 3,200-meter relay. In the 1,600-meter relay, Nichols, Kim Cheatham, Airica Lambert and Angel Nield won on the night.
