Lorie Hallett has announced her bid for the Republican nomination for Putnam County auditor in the May 8 primary.

Hallett has served as deputy in the Putnam County Assessor's Office since July 2008.

Prior to serving as deputy in the Assessor's Office, Hallett was elected to two terms as Greencastle Township assessor from January 2003 to July 2008 (when legislation went into effect that did away with township assessors).

Hallett also served as deputy assessor in the Greencastle Township Assessor's Office under Don Hess from 1999 to 2003.

She is an Indiana state-certified Level II Assessor/Appraiser and has completed classes toward achieving Level III.

Hallett was born and raised in Putnam County and has resided here all her life. She is a graduate of South Putnam High School.

The Republican candidate resides in Greencastle with her husband Shane. She has two children, Jessica Jones (husband Mike Jones) and Hanna Cochran, and also has two grandchildren, Jaiden Jones and Madisyn Jones, who also reside in the county.

Hallett said she is "looking forward to continuing to serve the taxpayers of Putnam County in a friendly, courteous atmosphere."
