Julia Jean Morlan, 71, of Carbon, Ind., passed away Friday, April 13, 2012 at Union Hospital, Terre Haute, after a brief illness.

She was born in Greencastle on May 28, 1940, the daughter of Dallas and Leaettia (McMurray) King.

She graduated from Brazil High School.

Julia had worked as a cook for several area nursing homes as well as at Bridgeton School. She also worked at Page's Deli and Cord Factory in Brazil.

Julia enjoyed the annual Parke County Covered Bridge Festival where she spent the week selling crafts. Another enjoyment of her life was as a volunteer at the Clay County Community Theatre where she worked in the kitchen.

She married Clarence Morlan on Jan. 2, 1987. Together they enjoyed gardening and canning, mushroom hunting and shopping at flea markets.

Julia was also accomplished at woodworking, woodcrafts and scrapbooking.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dallas and Leaettia King; brothers Dallas King Jr. and Tommy King; and a sister Jody Wallace.

She is survived by her husband, Clarence Morlan; two sons, Richard Alan Amers (Sherri) and Michael Lee Amers (Sandy); grandchildren Ricky Amers, Sammi Amers; Hope Noble and Kyle Thomas; great-grandchildren Nick Lamon and Lindsey Noble; sisters Sandy Lee and Marcia McMahon; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Services will be conducted at French Funeral Home in Brazil, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, with visitation from 5 p.m. until time of services. At her request, cremation will follow.
