Designating April as Child Abuse Prevention Month and the week of April 22-28 as the Week of the Young Child, Greencastle Mayor Sue Murray signs a proclamation to that effect at City Hall. Looking on are Tammy Hunter (seated left), director of Putnam County Head Start, and Cari Cox (seated right), executive director of Putnam County Family Support Services. Also on hand for the recent ceremony are (standing, from left) Ruth Ralph, executive director of the Johnson-Nichols Health Clinic; Patti Harmless, CASA director of the Youth Development Commission; Eileen Johnson, director of Mental Health America of Putnam County; Elizabeth Butts, domestic violence program manager for Family Support Services; Stefanie Sears, Healthy Families director for Family Support Services; Gretchen Wallace, Family Support Services; and Jena Welker, Family Support Services. The mayoral proclamation calls upon Putnam County citizens, agencies, organizations, medical facilities and businesses to increase their participation in efforts to prevent child abuse as well as in support of early learning for all young children to help strengthen the communities in which we all live.
