CLOVERDALE -- The Cloverdale boys' golf team placed second behind Northview Monday 187-173. Shakamak fielded an incomplete team.

Zach Hall, Brody Pfaff and Freddy Fislar paced the Clovers with each scoring 46 each. Aaron Whitlock shot a 49, Rylan Mattocks shot a 51 and Colte Tomlinson finished with a 56.

"In some instances, we made some progress, but in others we took a step back," head coach Doug Wokoun said. "Freddy is starting to come around and gain some confidence. Zach had a good round going into the last two holes and ran into some trouble. Brody played better, and is getting closer to where we think he should be."

Wokoun said his team needs to continue to grow in their mental game.

"Determination and perseverence are really important for us. A bad shot or difficult situation is creating more problems for us than it should, and we have to be stronger mentally to cope with the adversity that golf often presents. Sometimes our lack of experience is hurting us, but we have to find ways to overcome that issue," Wokoun said.
