Down to a Science

Wednesday, April 18, 2012
Members of the North Putnam High School science team ponder a first-round question Tuesday evening during competition in the senior division of the Indiana Academic Super Bowl. District competition in the Greencastle High School multipurpose room featured 20 teams competing in four divisions. With proctor Tiffany Haulton (left) of Danville tallying the scores, NPHS students Katie Welch, Jared James and Emmy Rees work out an answer. Overall North Putnam answered 19 of the 25 science questions correctly, good for second place behind Greencastle and its score of 20 in Class 3 competition. Besides science, the schools compete in fine arts, English, social studies, mathematics and interdisciplinary. Schools won't know until Wednesday afternoon or later if they will advance to the state finals May 5 at Purdue University.
