The South Putnam girls' tennis team fell to Edgewood 4-1 Thursday at home.

The No. 1 doubles team of Madison Cash and Caitlyn Boyce defeated Brandi Wilcoxen and Beka Douglas 3-6, 6-0, 6-3 for the Eagles' only win on the night.

"(It was) just one of those night where the ball just didn't bounce our way," Eagles head coach Johnnie Briones said. "The girls could not get a good feel for the ball."

Briones said he was proud of his No. 1 doubles team for picking up a win on the night.

On Monday, South Putnam experienced a different outcome. The Eagles defeated West Vigo 3-2.

South Putnam swept the Vikings in singles matches on the night to get the win. Ericka Minor defeated Abby Williams at No. 1 singles 7-5, 6-1, while Jade Asher won at No. 2 singles 6-4, 6-0 over Kaylen Cheesman. At No. 3 singles, Kelly Hayden defeated Mackenzie Collins 6-1, 6-4.
