County Jail

Several people have been booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* On Saturday, April 21 at 12:15 a.m. Joel Patrick Kennelly, 43, Cloverdale, was housed at the jail for operating while intoxicated.

At 2:40 p.m. Christopher Ryan Dunn, 33, Tuckerman, Ariz., was booked in for operating while intoxicated.

At 8:05 p.m. George Ronald Cross, 28, Indianapolis, was arrested for possession of paraphernalia and possession of methamphetamine.

At 8:32 p.m. Richard John Hudson, 37, Roachdale, was charged with contempt of court and failure to appear.

* On Sunday, April 22 at 3 a.m. Deborah May Matthews, 56, Greencastle, was held at the jail for operating while intoxicated with a prior conviction.

* On Monday, April 23 at 1:56 p.m. Nichole Neal-Drykos, 30, Greencastle, was arrested for probation violation.

Sheriff's Department

* On Friday, April 20 at 2 p.m. William F. Glaze, 27, Bainbridge, was eastbound on U.S. 36 just west of County Road 600 East in a 2002 Buick LeSabre. Glaze came over a hillcrest and saw Gary W. Hunteman, 67, Coatesville, stopped to make a right turn onto 600 East in a 1990 Mazda Miata.

Glaze said he tried to react and sideswiped Hunteman's car and the guardrail.

Damage $2,501-$5,000.

* On Saturday, April 21 at 9:33 a.m. Christopher R. Dunn, 33, Cloverdale, was northbound on U.S. 231 just north of U.S. 40 in a 1994 GMC Jimmy. Dunn told the investigating officer he ran off the road for an unknown reason.

His SUV struck the guardrail on the east side of the road and veered back into the roadway, overturning in the northbound lane. It came to rest upside down, facing west.

Dunn had to be extricated from the vehicle and was transported to Putnam County Hospital for minor injuries.

He was later taken to Putnam County Jail, where he tested at .31 blood alcohol content on the certified breath test. He was charged with driving while intoxicated with a BAC of .15 or higher.

Damage $5,001-$10,000.

* At 9:50 a.m. Kandice R. Martin, 29, Greencastle, was on U.S. 231 waiting in traffic caused by an earlier accident in a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica. She was trying to turn around due to the road closure.

She said she was backing up when she made contact with a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by James T. Coy, 34, Greencastle. Martin said she believed Coy was rolling forward when contact was made.

Coy told the investigating officer his vehicle was stopped at the time of contact.

Damage $2,501-$5,000.

* On Monday, April 23 at 2:30 p.m. Elizabeth N. Teckenbrock, 16, Coatesville, was eastbound on Heritage Drive in a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier when she swerved to miss an unidentified vehicle that was westbound in the eastbound lane.

Her car left the road and went over an embankment before making head-on impact with a ditch on the north side of the road. The impact caused the vehicle to roll onto its top.

Teckenbrock retrieved her infant son, who was uninjured, from his carseat and walked home to call Putnam County Dispatch.

When he arrived, Deputy Kyle Gibbons saw no visible signs of injury to Teckenbrock or her child. She told Gibbons they would both be going to the hospital on their own.

Damage $5,001-$10,000.

City Police

Another theft was investigated recently by Greencastle City Police officers at the local Walmart superstore:

-- At 1:40 p.m. April 20, Jeremy Washington, 19, Hammond, was arrested for reportedly taking $58.75 worth of merchandise.

According to Officer Darrel Bunten's report, Washington attempted to conceal a package of Zyrtec allergy medication, one black pillow case from a package of two and on T-shirt from a pack of five by putting them down his pants and in his front pants pockets.

Washington then proceeded to the checkout, police said, where he paid only for a pillow. He was taken to the Putnam County Jail and held on theft charges.

One additional arrest was reported by GPD officers:

-- Kim McGaughey, 57, Greencastle, was arrested at 6:48 p.m. Saturday on the parking lot of the KFC restaurant on Bloomington Street, where he allegedly created a disturbance.

McGaughey was lodged in the Putnam County Jail on a disorderly conduct charge.

Two recent traffic accidents were investigated by City Police:

-- At 12:20 p.m. April 18, a two-vehicle mishap was reported on the parking lot of Ivy Tech.

Christina Jones, 34, Greencastle, was backing a 2012 Ford Flex from a parking space and did not see a 2012 Dodge Journey being driven southbound through the lot by Holly Gillespie, 34, Plainfield.

The collision resulted in more than $5,000 in total damage, Sgt. Terry Eastham reported.

-- At 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Capt. Charles Inman responded to a one-car accident on the Walmart store parking lot and ended up issuing two citations to the teenage driver.

Police said Kalynn Ciscoe, 19, Indianapolis, was attempting to turn right off Indianapolis Road into the west entrance of Walmart when she accelerated and lost control of the 1997 Buick LaSabre she was driving and the car struck a guardrail. Ciscoe apparently mistook the accelerator pedal for the brake, Capt. Inman noted.

Total damage was estimated at $1,000-$2,500.

Ciscoe was cited for being an operator never licensed and for operating a vehicle without financial responsibility (no insurance).

Six additional traffic citations were issued recently by city officers:

-- At 7:25 p.m. Sunday, Scott Alexander, 18, Fillmore, was cited on Indianapolis Road by Capt. Inman for excessive smoke or fumes from his muffler.

-- At 5 p.m. Saturday, Vernon Hendrickson, 56, Greencastle, was ticketed by Sgt. Chris Jones for 46 mph in a 30-mph zone on Albin Pond Road.

-- At 1:45 p.m. Saturday, Kenneth Wells, 53, Greencastle, was cited on Round Barn Road by Sgt. Jones for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

-- At 11:25 a.m., Friday, Amanda Best, 35, Greencastle, was ticketed by Officer Bunten for a learner's permit violation at Main and Maple streets.

-- At 9:38 p.m. April 19, Bryan Jones, 24, Indianapolis, was cited on State Road 240 by Officer Eric Vaughan for having a false or fictitious registration.

-- At 9:31 p.m. April 17, Renda Lamar, 29, Spencer, was cited on Shadowlawn Avenue by Officer Jeff Modlin for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.
