GHS claims Tiger Cub Invite

Monday, April 30, 2012

Greencastle hosted the Tiger Cubs Invite Saturday at Windy Hill. The GHS A team won the event with a total of 318, beating out Rockville, who finished second with 364. The Greencastle B team played fourth with a total of 394.

Greencastle posted the five lowest rounds of the day en route to its win. Luke Brotherton won medalist honors for his round of 78. Tanner Dean followed closely with a 79, while Raymond Stinson shot 80 and Alec Davis and Brad Haussin fired 81 each.

This marked the second consecutive year that Brotherton captured medalist honors. Head coach Steve Paquin noted Dean's 79 tied his season best and that Davis and Haussin battled through some tough holes.

"The course was very difficult with fast and hard greens and winds that caused many shot to fly off line into trouble. Our number No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 players really played well when our number No. 1 and No. 2 players had off days. Excellent team balance when it counts," Paquin said.

The B team was led by Wataru Otaki's 85, followed by Carl Basile's 94. Derik Thomas shot a 95, with Joe Kaiser and Justin Baxter both shooting 110.
