Old National honors Young

Emma Leigh Young (center) a South Putnam High School senior and daughter of Larry and Joni Young, Reelsville, receives a check for $1,000 as the Putnam County winner of the 2012 Old National Bank Community Matters Scholarship. Cara Goodin (left), Old National Bank manager at the Greencastle main branch gets help from Pat Modlin, assistant manager, in hoisting the oversized ceremonial check. Goodin stressed that Old National Community Matters Scholarships are open to all county high school seniors and college freshmen to apply for each spring. Young plans to attend the University of Indianapolis, where she intends to earn a degree in athletic training/pre-physical therapy while completing requirements to enter the Professional Doctor of Physical Therapy program at U-Indy. At SPHS, Young has been president of the National Honor Society, member and captain of the Fine Arts Academic Super Bowl team, Girls State delegate and Good Citizenship Award winner. In addition, she participates in FCCLA as a district officer, cheerleading, band, thespians, student council and Latin Club.
