Bingo event raises funds for local scholarships

To the Editor:

On behalf of the Putnam County Board of Realtors, I would like to thank the over 100 individuals that came to play at our first Spring Bingo, and the many realtors that attended as well.

The Putnam County Board of Realtors' fourth Charity Bingo event was a great success, with over $1,500 in prizes given away on April 28 at the Putnam County Fairgrounds.

Thanks to our fall 2011 bingo, the board will be awarding $2,000 in scholarships to Putnam County high school seniors in the next few weeks. With the success of this new Spring Bingo, we will be adding $2,000 to our Scholarship Fund, growing our endowment to provide for future scholarships.

I would especially like to thank our sponsors for this year's event: Abstract and Title, At Home Realty LLC, Carpenter Realtors, Coldwell Banker Putnam Real Estate Center, Collins Evans Real Estate, Farm Credit Service, First National Bank, Helmer Appraisal, North Salem State Bank, Royal Title, F.C. The Putnam County Board of Realtors hopes to continue this event twice a year, to provide a fun, smoke-free event to the public while promoting giving back to the community. All of our bingo events to date have benefited our Scholarship Fund, in turn benefiting local high school seniors.

Thanks again for helping make these scholarships to Putnam County high school seniors possible! We hope to see everyone on Oct. 27, 2012 for our Fall Bingo!
