Wednesday, May 16, 2012

An accident occurred late Monday evening on U.S. 231 S. as a driver of a white GMC Safari van passed out behind the wheel due to a medical issue and drove through a fence, which eventually landed him in the side of an apartment complex. The driver of the van was Ron Dorsett who was traveling with his wife Linda. The apartment in which the van ended up, belonges to their son Brad Dorsett. Both Brad and Linda were transported to the Putnam County Hospital along with roommate Danny Barman with minor injuries. The Sheriff's Department, Greencastle Fire Department, Operation Life and Duke Energy responded to the call at 357 E. County Road 300 South (Jones Road), which came in at 9:36 p.m. Sgt. Jon Chadd was the investigating officer on scene. Deputy Phillip Troyer, Deputy Terry Smith and Sheriff Steve Fenwick aided Chadd.

  • No, Ron and Linda were transported to the hospital along with Danny Barman. Poor report on this accident. Claim was that Ron passed out while traveling at a high rate of speed on 231. Vering off and hitting a concrete light post and barrelling thru the white fence. Then increasing speed across and open field finally hitting the electrical transformer, and then entering the apartment of his son throwing appliances and furniture injuring Dan Barman. Linda claimed to try to shut the van off but when yelling at Ron he increased in speed instead. Power was lost to all 4 apartments and wasn't restored until Tuesday afternoon.

  • If you could do so better than the Banner-Graphic why aren't you? The Banner-Graqphic gets information from official reports. Are you perfect in your job...if you have one.

  • We all saw the girl from the Banner Graphic, I would have expected that she would have gotten the info correctly. Yes we all live there but we got our info the same way she should have. It wasn't from an "official report" And yes I am perfect in my job!

  • When we were standing outside after the accident. We all saw the girl from the Banner Graphic show up to get the report. But I would have thought that she would have gotten her answers to what happened the same way we did. By talking to those directly involved. Yes we live there but she had the same chance to get "Correct answers".

Oh and yes I am perfect at my job.
