The Franklin College 2012 commencement ceremony took place on Saturday, May 19 in Spurlock Center Gymnasium on the Franklin College campus. A total of 213 students received an undergraduate degree.

Six local students were among the graduates.

JAMES BURNS, son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Burns of Roachdale, received a bachelor of arts in psychology. He graduated cum laude.

KRISTIN CLINE, daughter of Allen and Terri Cline of Roachdale, received a bachelor of arts in elementary education. She graduated summa cum laude.

SHANNON EGOLD, daughter of Kirk and Maureen Egold of Cloverdale, received a bachelor of arts in elementary education. She graduated summa cum laude.

BENJAMIN FISHER, son of Mr. and Mrs. Barry Fisher of Greencastle, received a bachelor of arts in journalism/news editorial.

ADAM HAMMOND, son of Wes and Janice Hammond of Greencastle, received a bachelor of arts in physical education.

SEAN RHINE, son of Randy and Rita Rhine of Cloverdale, received a bachelor of arts in philosophy.

Two Cloverdale High School graduates are among the 22 recipients of the Co-Alliance Solutions Scholarship.

KAITLYN ARNOLD, daughter of Michael and Cathy Arnold, and CAMERON MANN, daughter of Rob and Malinda Mann, each received the one-time $1,000 award.

Co-Alliance created the scholarship program to benefit the children and grandchildren of local cooperative members who belong to Midland Co-op, IMPACT Co-op, LaPorte County Co-op, Frontier Co-op and Excel Co-op, and announced the award recipients recently.

While the company pledges to deliver 20 awards every year, this year, 22 students were awarded due to the exceptional level of achievement, and also the understanding that advanced educational costs have become even more challenging for local families in recent years.

MORGAN MICHELLE CHEAT-HAM, daughter of Terry Sue Cheatham of Reelsville, graduated from Dickinson College on May 20 with a BS in physics and mathematics. Cheatham is a graduate of South Putnam High School.

Dickinson College, is a private, liberal arts college located in Carlisle, Pa.

TAYLOR J. ALLES, daughter of Ann and Don Hazelgrove of Bainbridge, has been named to the dean's list at DePauw University for the spring 2012 semester.

The minimum requirement for this honor is a grade point average of 3.5 for the semster.

WADE TUCKER HUBER, son of Shane Huber and Dawn Tucker, has been named to the dean's list at Xavier University. He finished his junior year with a GPA of 3.83.

Wade is a finance major and is currently working as an intern at Merrill Lynch in Cincinnati.

ASHLEY TEMPLEMAN of Greencastle was named to the dean's list for the spring 2012 semester at MacMurray College. To be named to the dean's list, a student must have a 3.5 grade point average and be enrolled for at least 12 credit hours.

Templeman is a sophomore majoring in biology and the daughter of Chad and Darlene Templeman of Greencastle.
