Bainbridge alumni banquet to feature speaker Lanny Parker

BAINBRIDGE -- Lanny Parker, a retired public school administrator and a member of the Bainbridge class of 1960, will be the featured speaker Saturday, June 30 at the 98th annual Bainbridge High School Alumni banquet.

The banquet will be in the Bainbridge Community Building with the social hour beginning at 5 p.m. and a buffet dinner following at 6:30.

Parker is the son of the late former Bainbridge school principal Paul Parker and his wife Lola. He is married to the former Janet Austin of Bainbridge. Now residing in Indianapolis, they are the parents of three children, four grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.

Following high school, Parker attended Indiana State University, receiving both B.S. and M.A. degrees. He earned an Ed.S. degree from Ball State University in 1979.

Parker spent 40 years working in public schools and has been employed as a teacher, basketball coach, athletic director, assistant principal and principal.

He was an advocate for the Challenge Leadership Program, was named District Principal of the Year, graduated from the Indiana Principal Leadership Academy and served on the IHSAA Executive Committee during his career in public education.

Classes to be honored this year at the Banquet include: 1952 (60 years since graduation) and 1962 (50 years since graduation). Class speakers scheduled to make responses include: Dick Thompson of North Salem for the 1952 class and Janet Austin Parker of Indianapolis for the 1962 class.
