Jean R. Holley, age 86, of Greencastle, passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis.

Born Jan. 24, 1926 in Wayne County, Ind., she was the daughter of Milo and Grace (Cochran) Routh.

She was a graduate of Hyde Park High School and secretarial school with a degree in medical dictation, Chicago.

She married Donald L. Holley in 1947, and he preceded her in death in 1989.

Jean had worked at the Putnam County Surgical Associates, having worked for more than 40 years for Drs. Wiseman, Shauwacker and Glock.

She had been a member of the Greencastle Presbyterian Church for more than 60 years.

She was a member of the Progress History Club and Garden Club. She was an avid gardener and bird watcher.

Survivors include her son, David B. Holley of Greenwood; her daughter, Janey Nickerson and husband, John of Cloverdale; two sisters, Helen Foutz and Frances Mendenhall; a brother, Robert Routh; eight grandchildren, Kasey, Jake, Kurt, Gabe, Lauren, Colin, Barbara and Joshua; eight great grandchildren; Elaina, Bailey, Eli, Ben, Cash, Gabby, Trey, and Alara.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two sisters, Eleanore and Ester.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 18 at Greencastle Presbyterian Church with Rev. Wes Kendall officiating. Family visitation and refreshments immediately following.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Greencastle Presbyterian Church, Landscaping Fund, 653 S. CR 100 Greencastle, IN. 46135.
