A 22-year-old Greencastle man was arrested for reckless driving and public intoxication after driving his pickup truck over the curb and into the yard of the DePauw University president's house, The Elms, at Wood and Seminary streets.

That incident occurred at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 30 as Timothy Bray was reportedly eastbound on Seminary Street, traveling at a high rate of speed. A witness estimated he was traveling 70-80 through the residential neighborhood. He reportedly ran through the stopsign at Wood and Seminary and struck a decorative light pole and a tree up against the house.

Police said Bray began backing his 1989 GMC truck out of the yard and struck the front end of a GMC Sonoma truck, driven by Daryl Taylor, 50, Greencastle, who was stopped eastbound on Seminary Street.

Damage to the vehicles involved in the accident was listed at $1,750. No damage estimate was available on the DePauw property.

Bray was taken initially to Putnam County Hospital, where his blood-alcohol content level was tested at .302 percent, almost four times the legal limit.

Bray was arrested at the hospital at 4:32 p.m. and lodged in the Putnam County Jail.
