Lorin T. Bowman

Lorin T. Bowman, 81, Greencastle, formerly of Cloverdale, passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2012 at his residence.

He was born on April 20, 1931 in Owen County, and was the son of the late John and Myrtle Viola (Routt) Bowman.

Lorin married Marjorie Pearl (Williams) Bowman on April 10, 1952, and she survives. They were married for 60 years.

Lorin is also survived by his daughter, Sherry Davis, Indianapolis; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren: Bradley W. Davis and wife Mandy and children, Lindsey and Christian; Loreena M. Powell and husband Tim and children, Davis and Anna; Carin L. Price and fiancé Scott Haywood and children, Skylar, Madison and Kellie; Vance A. Davis and daughter Savannah and Evan M. Davis; and his sister, Patricia Durnill and husband Jack, Crawfordsville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Gary Lee Bowman, and his sister, Elnora Clines.

Lorin graduated from Cloverdale High School in 1949. He joined the U.S. Army in 1951 and served in the Korean War where he earned two Purple Hearts, three Bronze Stars and many other medals of bravery.

He retired from Dean Brothers Pump Co., Indianapolis, in 1986, where he worked for 32 years.

Besides his love for family and friends, he enjoyed working outdoors,

hunting, mushroom hunting, maple-syrup making, cookouts with family and friends, storytelling, woodworking and building his own log home in the early 1990s.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 12 at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 11 at the funeral home.

Interment will be in the Cloverdale Cemetery with military honors.
